If were to not know PEMDAS and I was trying to figure out some 3 dimensional graphing I could end up making a very lopsided mistake
ReplyDeleteIt is 2056. Whales are extinct, the Eiffel Tower is warped and bent due to a recent bombing, and a dictatorship of mathematicians has taken over. Every single person of the 20,000 left on earth, including you, must face... The Trial. The Trial involves solving a series of problems that require knowledge of PEMDAS or GEMS. Those who get a passing grade are escorted to a utopian skyscraper high above all the pollution and the destruction, those who don't, are left on the surface of the earth to fend for themselves. Trial day is coming. Will you survive?
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly the kind of disaster we need to prepare for. Don't forget PEMDAS. Don't. Today, though, PEMDAS is very useful for actually having one right answer, rather than multiple different ones. It has helped me with problems that looked very complex before, but seem easy now. Thank you PEMDAS. Math tool, or survival tool?
Amazing! Because of this, I will not only learn PEDMAS, I will create a save the whales foundation. :)

DeleteIf I didn't know PEMDAS, I would be sitting in a college math class, with a problem that involves PEMDAS, not knowing how do the problem
ReplyDeleteIf I did not know/ understand PEMDAS then, like Ms. Ullner said, would not be able to figure out a long, complex problem. Also, what If I wanted to be a scientist?
ReplyDeleteNot knowing PEMDAS I would be doing the CST and then here comes a long complex algebra problem, what am I to do?

ReplyDeleteIf I did not know order of operations, then when I went to middle school or high school, I would have no idea what to do. It's also more organized.
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't know O.O. I would fail in math in 6 grade, middle school, and forever on... Cause you never know, I might go to college and get a job that requires you to be a whiz or a genius at math.;)
ReplyDeleteSchool would be very entertaining. Math equations would be wrong left and right, there would be yelling that says, ''NO you're wrong" or "HA HA Im right your wrong!". I could just imagine Ms. U going crazy, putting her head through a wall, or going around yelling at us. But thankfully, we are saved from PEMDAS. We could get scholarships from being able to figure out complex equations, then going on to be accountants or CPAs. All this from mastering the art of PEMDAS!!!
ReplyDeleteIf you dont' learn how to do order of opperations, there are many of things you cant do. I have asked myself,"Has order of opperations change my life?" Well, I have to go with...YES! Lets say i am an architect, I wouldnt be able to figure out any math problems to do any calculating. Without order of opperations all I could do was the simple multiplication, subraction, and addition.
ReplyDeleteI liked Khan academy, it really helped and I can use it in Computech to study for math stuff. Hi Ms. Ullner! I really miss you because you nothing compared to Computech. Have a fun year!

ReplyDeleteWhat if I was engineer and I was at work and I had to use pemdas but I didn't know how to do it. I would've gotten fired or not even had the job in the first place.

ReplyDeleteIf I didn't know PEMDAS! I couldn't do calculus. And if I didn't no calculus, I couldn't become a number theorist. And I WILL be a number theorist!!!!!
