You are LOST!

You are LOST!

Imagine that you are lost in a forest.  You may choose a Magician's

Nephew (human) character to accompany you. Who would you choose?

Cite text evidence that supports WHY you would choose him/her.

You may post it on your own blog, but just let us know below.

Here is a rubric to guide your entertaining INFORMATIONAL/EXPLANATORY writing. Boring but important details....HOOK, topic sentence with text evidence details!

  1. If I was stuck in the Woods Between the Worlds, I would rather be with Polly. I would want to be with her than others because she actually thinks. If I were to do something wrong, she would remind me. Plus, she isnt really persuasive, so if she wanted to do something bad, it would be really hard for her to convince me. She isnt impulsive, so she would think everything through. She isnt really adventurous so she couldnt get herself into trouble by exploring. I think she is good to be stuck because she WANTS to be cautious. Its most likely she wouldnt make a big mistake. Thats why I think that she is the best character to be stuck with.

  2. I am lost. In a forest. ONE character can come. Well if I had to choose only one, that character would be Polly. Why? One reason is her sense of logic. But that's not the only thing...
Polly is also very smart. An example of that would be on page 41, when Polly stops Digory from jumping into random pools, without marking their own. (What would Digory do without her?) Being smart would be very helpful in the event that we stumbled upon some things that we could transform into a help device. (perhaps a horn or something) Smartness could help us put it together. Being smart also comes in handy when trying to find some place. If you see a cart, it could mean signs of civilization. ( a not-so smart person may not realize that). She is also fairly curious. (not as curious as Digory, but his curiosity gets him into trouble.) In chapters eight and nine she is extremely interested in the song, and eager to know where it is coming from. This could help in a forest because she would want to explore a little bit, and who is to say we wouldn't find something useful! We just might!
Those are just a couple of reasons why I would choose Polly over anyone if I was to be lost in a forest.

  3. If I were lost in a forest, and I could take one character it would be Polly, because of one reason, she's sensible and thinks things through. Like at the end of chapter four, where she tried to stop Digory from ringing the bell. She didn't want to risk ringing the bell, and something bad happening. If I were alone in the forest, I would probably do something without thinking, because that's what I do. If Polly was there with me, she would stop me from doing something really dumb.

  4. If I was lost in the forest, I would want Polly to be with me because she is loyal and brave. In the forest, there could be bears or wolves lurking behind trees and bushes. Polly shows she is loyal because she insists on going on the quest with Digory, her good friend. She is brave because when Jadis came, she didn't immediately put on her ring, which would take her to safety. Because Polly is loyal and brave, she would be a perfect companion if one was lost in the forest.

  5. If I were lost in a forest I would choose Polly to accompany me because she is cautious and sensible. She shows this when she and Digory are in Charn and Digory wants to ring the bell, but Polly is cautious and doesn't want to ring the bell. This also shows she is sensible. Another example is when they are at the pools in the wood between the worlds. Digory wants to jump in the pool, but Polly stops him and marks the "home" pool. These qualities are useful if you are lost in a forest because if there is something dangerous, these qualities will keep you in one piece. There are many good qualities about Polly, but I think theses two are the most useful.

  13. It is dark, with only a small amount of green light filtering through the tall trees. I can choose one character from Magicians Nephew to go with me. Just one. I choose Polly. For one, she is very logical, and her main focus would be getting out of the forest and surviving, just like how her main focus in Charn was not to ring the mysterious bell. She also plans ahead, and might realize before it gets dark that a fire might come in handy, like how she marked the London pool in the Wood Between the Worlds, so they wouldn't get lost. She is also rather brave, she even stood up to a seven-foot tall evil Witch multiple times. She is also willing to protect her friends, for example, she wanted to go with Digory on his quest. Because of all these traits, Polly would be an admirable lost-in-the-forest companion.
